“Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important have the courage to follow your heart and intuition … they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” … Steve Jobs
Hooray for you Steve! Not everybody loved the way you did business. Every person on the planet didn’t jump up and down and think that you were just the hottest thing since sliced bread. Everybody didn’t even always agree with your vision … but you never let that stop you. Inside of you were drivers the likes of which the rest of us can only imagine. And inside of you were a heart and intuition that truly knew whom you were destined to be … kudos for listening to them!
I have often struggled to find the courage to follow my inner voice … oh not the Perky Polly chatter … that jives really well with my persona in the world. I’m talking about the part of me that is still intimately connected to Life … the part that Knows things. Further to that … I’m talking about turning down the volume on the world’s Shoulds and opinions so that my voice can be heard and its input pondered and considered.
It’s taken a lot of years … a large pile of almost insurmountable challenges and a few friendly kicks in the backside but I think I’m finally starting to get it. It seems that I have the ability to tune into the Celestial Radio Station: L.I.F.E. My intuition suggested that I might like this station with its friendly and helpful advice. My heart agreed and promptly popped out to the local Universal-Electronics store and returned with a basic receiver and amplifier. Well … once we got the connection all fine tuned and I could finally hear the insights and fabulous suggestions I was a convert.
My heart and perky Polly are in cahoots … on the days when I forget to listen they have got used to cranking up the volume on L.I.F.E. so that I can’t miss the message. That tends to make it challenging … if not downright impossible …to ignore the promptings to ‘Be All You Can Be’ and the Universal cheerleader chants of: ‘Susanne, Susanne she’s our man if she can’t do it no-one can.’… groan … The good news is that they truly do know the direction to my dreams … and if truth be told I really do love the encouragement. So … Polly and I are off … wearing our iPods tuned to L.I.F.E … to tackle the next step of the adventure. We’re planning on coming out smiling … and one step closer to our dreams. … Is that a song of success I hear?
