“The world is full of magic things patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” … W. B. Yeats
I don’t listen to the news on T.V. and the radio anymore. I stopped getting my daily/ hourly dose of depressing-stuff approximately 7 years ago. It struck me that as the majority of the so-called news is either opinion, negative opinion or just plain bad-news I would probably be better off without it. Add to this that I am on the internet every day … and I made the giant leap of faith that if something really horrible happened … someone would tell me. You know what? I haven’t missed any big news events or catastrophes yet!
Every morning the sun rises and we have oxygen to breathe. With a few quite notable exceptions we generally have decent water to drink and … again … with a few noteworthy exceptions … we mostly have other decent, like-minded individuals with whom to interact … so far, so good as far as I can tell. As I happen to be living in one of the economically, emotionally and geographically stable areas of the world I am reminded … by my occasional forays into the world of “News” … of how truly fortunate I am.
I am walking again … Hooray! … and I am really appreciating how lucky I am to live close to … not one … but two lakes. One of the aforementioned lakes has awesome walking paths that are stable and “civilized” enough for me and my cane to traverse safely but is still wild enough to be full of the sounds, smells and beauty of nature. It is here … by the lake … that Perky Polly and Sunshine Sue are really happy and it is here that we sharpen our senses so that we can take in as much of the Magic-of-Life as we can. In the day-to-day world of busyness, traffic, concerns and distraction it is Life’s gift of magic that revitalizes and sustains us. Our collective hats are off to the great Source of awesome wonder and day-to-day Earthly magic … Here’s to you Life and many thanks for the beautiful world.
Godspeed and Joyful Journeying Everyone
