“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” … Ralph Waldo Emerson
By now everyone has probably figured out that I am a really positive person. My inner alter egos – Perky Polly and Sunshine Sue are two of my favorite examples of how I choose to live, breathe and act in the world. Now, having said that I am neither so blindly optimistic nor so foolish that I don’t recognize that sometimes s#@* just comes along and hits my proverbial fan.
Everybody has days when … no matter how “perfectly” they may do everything … other people’s drama just drags its poor, sorry butt into the middle of everything. I used to get upset about that and leap into the fray in an attempt to justify or rectify things … these days … not-so-much. Now I give my head a shake … take a 2nd look at my contributions to the present situation … do my best to Understand … and then … move on. I finally understand that each person has to learn to write their own message on their heart and that me coming along with a big, black, indelible, Celestial marker and writing something positive for them just does not make any difference.
One of the biggest lessons that I have learned over the last decade is that if I am not willing to be optimistic about my day … my relationships and my life … then who is? Every morning Miss Perky writes Motivational sayings on my heart that remind me of Life’s incredible bounty and kindness. Each day Ms Sunshine shares her special sunglasses with me so that I remember to walk around basking in the glow of Life and … when appropriate … sharing said glow with all around me. If my heart’s writings are indeed my Heart’s Intentions then I am best served to remember to write … and to believe … that “Every day is the best day in the year”.
