“Start wherever you are. Move when you are ready. Do it at your own pace. Ignore other’s opinions. Life isn’t a race.” … Susanne
As you know I am a big believer in the Ban-the-Should movement. Life has enough challenges … just on a day-to-day basis … that no-one really needs any additional pressure to move ahead with their life. In fact … I believe … that the addition of ‘Shoulds”, Unasked-for-Opinions, Peer Pressure and the like really does very little to enhance our performance whilst simultaneously contributing to a huge loss in quality-of-life.
In many ways it’s like a giant metaphoric “Should-Fair” has rolled into everyone’s town and set up shop. What could have been a casual afternoon stroll … perusing different points of view and seeing what they look like in the world … has turned into a nightmare walk through the Fair-from-Hell. Hardly a day passes that the discordant music of aforementioned fairground doesn’t fill our ears with doubts and drown out our own inner voice that says: “Wait … this isn’t the right way for me!”
I believe that it is time to give our unwelcome circus guests the boot. The mocking clowns … the controlling Master of Ceremonies … the domineering “strong-man” … and the awful Hall of Mirrors that distorts everything we see and think. I happen to believe that there’s just no place for those behaviors in our lives anymore. It’s now time to stand up and defend our beautiful hearts … our compassionate natures and our Core Truths. It is time to let each of our individual, inner Perky Polly’s or Peters come out to play … and it’s way past time to encourage our previously private Sunshine Sue, Sam, Stan or Stacy to shine, shine, shine! It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since they saw the light of day. It doesn’t even matter if they’ve never been allowed out. Today is the day … now is the moment … this is your life … choose to make the most of it.
