“The really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.” … Unknown
It would be really nice if everything always rolled along in a perfect manner and if things always turned out exactly the way that we planned wouldn’t it!??! I don’t know about you … but in my world … that hasn’t always happened … in fact… I’d have to say that, that has only occasionally happened!
Over the last decade I have come to accept that detours are a way of life. It would seem that Capital “L” Life has so many exciting adventures lined up for me that they don’t all fit on the one narrow, little strip of highway that I had imagined was my direct road to the future. Instead … we meander through both physical and metaphoric countrysides visiting places that I never thought I’d see.
I have come to really appreciate the beauty, people and lessons that I have found whilst traversing Life’s detours. I’m pretty sure that there could have been easier ways to get from “there” to “here’ … but all-in-all I can’t really complain. I have found happiness in the darkest of times … awesome, giving souls in the most unexpected of places … and a wellspring of gratitude that seems to encompass pretty much every aspect of my life.
These days Miss Perky and I travel with extra bottles of water and sandwiches and a Celestial GPS tracker … just in case Life should decide that there’s a more interesting road just waiting to be explored. We never feel lost because we know that even though we might miss a sign or two Life has Its eagle eye on us and … more likely than not … some synchronistically placed person will redirect us. Life is darn good … we’re never bored … and the scenery out here is great. Wave if you find yourself on the same back roads as us … and if you want … we’ll share our sandwiches!
Godspeed and joyful Journeying Everyone.
