Appreciating the perfection of being different

“There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.” … Deepak Chopra

I understand how challenging it is for many people to “fit in”.  In fact … I don’t believe that it is only some of us who feel like the odd man (or woman) out … but pretty much all of us!  As little kids we’re all running around trying to fit into some big-person’s mold of what is or isn’t socially and personally acceptable.  How many parents have you heard telling their kids: “You just go ahead and be you honey … and forget about the rules”?   Ah-h-h-h- that would be … none!

So … here we are … over 7 billion people … no two of whom are exactly alike.  The Creator of All could simply have cookie-cut us all out of one mold. It would have been easier.   Now why do think It didn’t do that?  I have a theory… ;D … and it can be summed up in the old adage:  “Variety is the spice of life.”  As an artist I know how boring it gets if I have to sit and paint the exact same thing over and over again. (Thank God for photocopiers!)  Now magnify that “boring” aspect a minimum of 7 billion times and I think you’ve got your answer.  The Creator loves wondrous variety and here on this one little planet … It’s got it all.

I don’t believe that we are meant to all walk the same, talk the same and think the same.  As Deepak so eloquently put it we each have a place to fill in the giant, Celestial puzzle that is Life.  Having said that some days I seriously question how the heck my weird-shaped, corner piece ended up in the middle of the puzzle.  I’m assuming that on those days Life had a little “oops” and dropped me … or … perhaps the placement was perfect all along.  Perhaps after watching my ends stick out all over the place the surrounding pieces became much happier with their own spots.  Whatever the reason or the season Miss Perky, Ms Sunshine and I are ready to leap into each new spot into which Life decides to put us.  If you see Life and I trying to figure out where the heck our next piece goes … give us a holler … we’ll take all placement suggestions under advisement.

Godspeed and Joyful Journeying Everyone

I love this little post. Of course, “different” is different to each individual. Do you ever try to be the opposite of “everyone else” and end up being just like those others that are trying to do the same? What IS different? 🙂

    • I think that … for me … being “different” means being true to who-I-truly-am … as opposed to running with the herd simply because. Different reflects my motivations rather than my actions … which may LOOK like everyone else’s but are driven by a completely different chauffeur. … 😀
