Hindsight is 20-20

“Faith means trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse.” … Phillip Yancey

We live in a world that ticks along one moment after another … minute by minute … hour by hour … day by day … well you get the picture.  Everything around us provides evidence that we live in a linear world … with time that progresses in a linear fashion … but does it really?

You know that old adage: “Time flies when you’re having fun”?  One has only to look at kids … or think about the time spent laughing, giggling and snorting at the amusement park … to realize how true that one is!  On  the flip side … isn’t it fascinating how slowly the hands of the clock move (oops … showing my age there … 😀 … )  when we’re engaged in some totally boring job!??!  It certainly seems like time might have a subjective component in it doesn’t it!??!

Well before you go thinking that I must be off my rocker let me share with you that the brilliant, physicist Stephen Hawking has now produced the mathematical proof of this bizarre idea!  So … whilst the math involved makes my wee brain shudder … the reinforcement by the Solid-Upright-Scientific-Community of an idea … whose previous address was 101 Woo-Woo Lane … definitely makes me think.

Miss Perky, Ms Sunshine and I have agreed that … as Capital “L” Life lives in a very different place than the rest of us … and as Stephen’s theory is more-than-likely correct …it’s not inconceivable that perhaps It’s idea of time might be really different from ours.  With that in mind … believing that It sees events “ahead of” us isn’t such a radical reach after all.  Maybe … just maybe … Faith is about trusting that long view … knowing that linear time will show it to be accurate in retrospect … after all hindsight is always 20-20.

Godspeed and Joyful Journeying Everyone
