“Don’t wait for tragedy to strike to remember that Now is always the perfect time to express the love that is in your Heart.”… Susanne
Why is it that we … as a race … seem to require tragedy in our lives to get out priorities straight? Why is it that we don’t appreciate the incredible preciousness of life until a horrible loss or illness … either our own or someone else’s … smacks us up along the head and forces us to face the apparently terrifying truth that: life … here on Earth … is finite.
I saw this tendency on a worldwide scale when the 9.0 Earthquake sent a tsunami to hit the Sandai region of Japan and kill over 15,000 people. I saw it when the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti and nearly ¼ million people died. And … as we all know … the death toll doesn’t have to be that big … sometimes it is simply the passing of a loved one that brings into sharp focus the unpredictability of life and the necessity of clear, caring communication and an open, compassionate heart.
So … what has brought all of this into sharp focus today? I guess it’s the memory of my own loss … brought into sharp focus by the untimely deaths of 300 sons and daughters on the sunken Korean ferry. It brings into clarity that all the time we have is all the time we have … and that we never know how long or short a time that may be. I have learned … as have many others … that it is never the wrong time to express the love that lies in our hearts. Now is always the perfect time to say: ”I love you” and now is always the perfect time to appreciate the precious nature of life and of those we love.
