“You never run out of opportunities to change your life for the better. Anyone who tells you that is simply lost in their own past.” … Susanne
I’ve heard all of the old lines and justifications for not changing. You know the ones I mean … they range from “You don’t know what (x, y, or, z) said/did to me” … to “You don’t understand how hard my life has been.” … all the way up to my ex’s favorite: “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Really!??! I’ve known some pretty versatile canines in my life.
It’s true. Often life and the people in it aren’t fair, kind or uplifting. Sometimes they’re downright surly, unsupportive and mean. And those kinds of people make life unpleasant at its best and crippling at its worst. So … what are we going to do about ourselves … and our lives … in this now and every moment from now on?
The way that I see it … we have two choices. We can either: a) Keep lugging that 10 ton backpack full of past indignities, pain and injustice around … thus allowing the perpetrators of the aforementioned stuff to continue their Reign-of-Terror … or b) We can avail ourselves of whatever healing modalities are available to us to cut those wounded puppies loose … stand up straight again … and begin creating a life that works for us. As with all things in life it’s truly our choice.
I admit that making the change from war-torn inner landscape to flower-filled, sparkly inner world was a LOT of work. Often the clean-up process hurt! At those times I reminded myself that if I didn’t like where I was (and I didn’t) that there were only two choices … go backwards (I think Not!!) … or dig in and move forward into the unknown. Well … you can probably guess which one The Girls & I chose. Yup … moving forward it was … and is. Miss Perky, MS. Sunshine & I are happy to report that this week the last of the front end loaders finally left with our old junk AND our Hazmat suits. What a relief! Miss Perky thinks it’s time for a celebration … party hats, ice cream and balloons all round!
