“Where’s the map that points the way to Happiness City?” she asked. “It’s sitting in your Heart … waiting for you to recognize it.” It replied.” … Susanne
Another holiday season has come and gone. In a tsunami of consumer craziness the massive pre-season sales and the even bigger post-season sales have once again equated happiness to the amount of money spent and the number of goodies given and received. But is that really what brings happiness into our lives to stay? I think not. I like “my stuff” as much as the next guy (or gal) … but realistically … when all the paper is burned … the tree and decorations are packed away … and the everybody has returned to their normal daily routine I have to ask myself … and by extension Capital “L” Life … “Where’s the map to Happiness City?”
This is always the season when I look back at the year just past … wonder how it could have flown by so fast … question whether I accomplished even half of the goals that I set … and begin to ponder what intentions I want to commit to for the next 365 days. The girls have their ideas about the things that they’d like to do … and so do I. Fortunately buying a condo in Happiness City is high on all of our lists!
If … as Capital “L”L Life indicates … the map to the aforementioned happy place does indeed live within me and is simply waiting for me to blow off the dust and unroll it … then it probably behooves me to make clearing out the junk that’s blocking my way to it my first priority. That way when Life drops Its numerous surprises and delights onto my path I’ll be healed enough to accept them … as opposed to simply chucking them into the back room with all of the other “stuff” that I was too wounded to act upon.
The girls and I have made it clear to Life that It had better be planning a route for us that includes putting down roots in Love Township … right next to the Pont de Parfaite Santé (the Bridge of Perfect Health) … overlooked by our Happiness City penthouse. Of course we will have regular visits from our publisher, friends, family and art clients, a roof garden filled with flowers, yummy fruits & vegetables, pretty garden furniture and a slide and swings for Polly. Alrighty then … it’s time to go and do some healing … buy some traveling shoes and get ready to party hearty.
Godspeed and Joyful Journeying Everyone
